Endorsement Policy
The Learning Disabilities Association of Kitchener-Waterloo does not endorse or recommend any of the facilities listed or any of the methods, programs, products or treatments offered by such facilities. Our aim is to keep the community informed about services and facilities that are available to people with Learning Disabilities. We urge consumers and services providers to review carefully any programs and services listed in order to select those which will meet most appropriately the identified needs of the person with Learning Disabilities. Although the information presented are thought to be reliable, their accuracy and correct interpretation cannot be guaranteed.

Each and every day, Canadians with learning disabilities (LD) face the challenge of learning and processing information with courage and determination. What they don't need is the added challenge of having to explain LD to classmates, colleagues and employers.

It's time to release the power...

The Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC) and its member organizations across the country plan to set the record straight on LD and the people who live with them. It's time for all Canadians to not only understand LD but to celebrate the unique achievements and capabilities of people living with LD.

Misperceptions about LD can foster barriers between people. Together we can bring them down.

About LDA of K-W

The Learning Disabilities Association of Kitchener Waterloo is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to supporting all individuals with Learning Disabilities in reaching their potential, within a society that values their unique contributions and abilities.

What is a learning disability?
"Learning Disabilities" refers to a variety of disorders that affect the acquisition, retention, understanding, organization or use of verbal and/or non-verbal information. These disorders result from impairments in one or more psychological processes related to learning, in combination with otherwise average abilities essential for thinking and reasoning. Learning disabilities are specific not global impairments and as such are distinct from intellectual disabilities.
